Zooming in into certain region

Using ATL, LMB, I can zoom in to my model.
However, it doesn’t care where exactely my mouse pointer currently is. It simply zooms in from the middle of the screen.

Just when I wrote this, I must have done something special.
Now the mouse pointer location is taken into account, and I can easily zoom into to the region that the mouse pointer is currently located at.

Does anybody know what I might have done to make it work this way?

Thank you very much!

the last place you “touched” your model is your zoom location. You can revert this to the world center with “F”

you can also use RMB and it will zoom to where your mouse is, rather than the last place you clicked.

Also there is the Local button, think its in Transform. It shifts the tumbling and I think zooming too, from the center to where ever your brush is.
