oke I still have this problem and I do not know what is causing it. I made a quick example to demonstrate the issue I have with grabdoc. It basically isn’t displaying any height information within the alpha:

The height information is there it’s just you can’t see it on your monitor.
Interesting! Is this solely in regard to my own monitor settings or is this the same for everyone ?
It’s not that your monitor settings are seriously wrong, just that you won’t necessarily be able to see the depth detail in an alpha. In your example the depth variations are quite slight which is why you can’t see anything. You can easily test what you’ve got though - by pressing Alpha>Transfer>CropAndFill.
