***** ZBrush 4R6 Available Now *****

Thanks Pixo. For the first time, the Auto-Updater really worked as he should and produced a working R6 with keeping all of my R5-stuff. Furthermore ZRemesher also really !! works and is no more a sneak preview of what it could be in the future, it really works. Now it is even better than the Auto-Retopo of 3D-Coat, also re-projecting details works with projecting Polypaint as well works. Incredible. Only reprojecting via ‘Freeze Subdivision levels’ does not really works well. But overall, really nice.

The link to the full installer/instructions is broken. where it says to “CLICK HERE” for active licensed ZBrush 4r5 users just doesn’t plain work. Are we going to get download links e-mailed to us like in the past.

I’m tempted to just use the updater but it has never worked for me in the past and most recently with updating to 4r5 the updater borked my comp to the point I had to do a fulkl system restore. I’d much rather use the full installer.

Oh, and just to mentoin. All the work and updates to improve ZBrush over the years are greatly appreciated but please,… ADD 64 BIT

XIII : no, go two lines further down and follow the advice for pre-R4 users. There is also a link for full installer with R5. Else go here: http://pixologic.com/zbrush/downloadcenter/instructions/full-installer.php

Auto updater in 4R5 is doing nothing… Download finally worked!!

I’m assuming I will not be able to use any file from this in previous versions as usual?

Still excited to use it.

UPDATE: HOLY MOSES!!! I can open a R6 .ztl in R5! This is awesome!

Then do it manually. I also had to do it from R4 to R5. Make a clean install of R6 and copy your startup-folder files from R5 over to R6. Or maybe check your firewall. Auto-Updater worked for me flawlessly.

I have been waiting forever! Glad to here texture painting layers will be in the next version. To bad I just bought Mari for painting layers.

Thanks for pointing that out. I am now looking forward to receiving my shirt and cap in the mail

Honestly, I am not one to advertise any product on my clothing, but for the one that brings me free, life-changing joy at least once a year I am more than happy to pay a few dollars to “fly the colors”.

Thank YOU! All you Pixologic wizards.

Has to be the most painless update ever. Just hit the upgrader in 4r5, grabbed my serial number from the 4r5 notification. Used web activation, input the activation code and boom… UP and running. Less than half an hour to be ready to roll.

Thank you for your startling commitment to empowering fellow artists.

Gratitude to all on the team!
Cheers!

Fantastic new release! ZRemesher is really impressive and a lot faster that qremesher. Can’t wait to try it out in production. Every update is great, but I’m really happy that you guys took care of the smooth uv’s , thanks!

I’m almost in tears! I started trying ZRemesher on some of my old characters and even in the most intricate cases the reconstructed topology is just shockingly perfect!!
I just can’t stop thinking on how many hours I’ve spent suffering with retopology and wishing for this tool to exist. IT’S FINALLY HERE!! This is going to be a great improvement not olny into my workflow but also into my life quality
THANK YOU SOOOOO MUCH GUYS :D:D:D:D!!!

You’ve done it again, Pixologic! Thanks!

Z-remesher - all settings turned off. Turned down to 7-15, all sliders.

Grid kind of beautiful, but did not like the small artifact - a parasitic poligon (around red)

generally cool!

Looks fantastic and a huge boost to game dev workflow… Only had an initial play but very exciting.

(now gets down on bended knee and begs for the devs to focus on the poly painting side of the app…)

Hi Kris, I had the same problem on some models and maybe you could try this : the technique is to use the dam standard brush instead of the ZRemesher guides. Here is the process : Duplicate your subtool (for later reprojection) , make dam standard brushstrokes on your model at the same place you would normally use ZRemesher guides (so that ZRemesher detects a change of curvature and will try to put an edgeloop here), run ZRemesher on this subtool. If it’s working well, the model should have a good topology but a bad volume due to the dam standard brushstrokes. Project your “damaged” subtool with a good topology onto the one you duplicated at the beginning. Voilà ! I hope that made sense. Let me know if it’s working better.

After upgrading, I found that I had 1.2 GB of extra stuff. My r4 folder was just Docs, so that was no big deal, but the r5 folder is loaded. Is that safe to delete or should I keep it?
Thanks

great update! has anybody put the crease brush to work and have any tips or results to share ?

Excellent update. Thank You! to all at Pixologic! :+1:

Is there a link for the instructions for the standalone installer? The one on the first page isn’t active.

jesta, download the standalone installer from pixologic --> support—> download, and it comes in a package with installer and instructions in a pdf…

and i want to say thank you too. the zremesher has matured to a great tool. i tried on a few meshes of mine, and the topology that is created with the help of 2 or 3 guide loops is better than wht i did before by hand retopo. and took just a few seconds! zremesher is definitely the tool i waited for most. than you, pixologic!

I’m wondering about the crease brush too. Looks like a great feature.
