ZBrush 4 under linux wine?

Hi all,

i am thinking of purchasing ZBrush 4. However i also prefer using linux. I heared that zbrush 3.1 works well with wine, but there were some problems with 3.5. Can anybody share his experience about how ZBrush 4 performs under wine?

Thanks,
Ivo

Zb3.5R3 runs perfect under wine.

Zb4 still I don’t know.

I got crash with startup

Hi to all. For augmenting the compatibility of wine, if you have access to windows xp, do the next:

Go to Windows>WinXSX and copy the complete folder to the same directory of wine (/home/user/.wine/drivec: (i think)/windows/).
Besides this, inside this folder you’ll find a file called “vcomp.dll”, copy (don’t cut) and paste it inside windows32 wine’s folder.

Finally, remember to configure wine emulating xp and try to launch zbrush with desktop effects at minimum.

After that, Zbrush should work as you never imagine… (Or well, at least, pretty well).

Ah!, one more thing. If you launch Zbrush without a wacom (or a tablet!?) plugged, you’ll receive an error, but you can work, BUT, if you change to other program, when back to Zbrush you’ll receive again the same error and then it will hang.

So, remember to have connected the peb tablet, ok?.

I get a out of disc space error when starting Zbrush 4 and after the error ZBrush starts and then i get a new error, only one Zbrush can be launched from the same directory and then zbrush quits.
ZBrush 3.5 runs fine with wine

Just wanted to post about how happy I was to get zbrush 4.0 working under wine. I’ve literally just got it working, so I’m still testing things out, but I had the same problem as scorpes initially, but I’m pleased to report that the problem is delightfully simple to fix!

Here was the error message I was getting:

Unable to open/Create a file C:\PROGRAM FILES\PIXOLOGIC\ZBRUSH 4.0\ZStartup\Tempfiles/search.mem

Simply browse your wine C: drive and navigate to the directory above and note that \Tempfiles is missing. Create a folder with this name and voila! Launch zbrush, (you might still get the first error, but ignore it) and get to sculping! I hope this works for others too.

…Now to remember what all these buttons do. It’s been a while since I used ZB.
