zbrush 4, changing hotkeys, urrrrghhh (answered)

So I fired up Zbrush 4 at work today, I haven’t used Zbrush in a while I was on 3.5 alittle.
I noticed right off the bat how they changed alot of the keys I was used to. Can anyone help me with these questions please?

First off, to set a hotkey for a brush, why when I cntrl and alt click a brush in the brush menu then I press a key, the 7 key for example, it isn’t seeming to recognize the key and when I mouse over the brush it says “pop up + 7” ??

Also, in 3.5 when I press cntrl and 1 and it would repeat the last stroke, this isn’t working for me anymore, how do I do this now?

And I used to be able to hold alt and paint a mask using the brush, now when I alt and paint a mask it switches to a marquee drag funtionality, not what I want.

Also, I can’t seem to find the pinch brush, am I going mad? <img src=“http://www.zbrushcentral.com/pixo/atn.gif”>

I’ll jump in and answer one of your questions. Just press the 1 key to repeat your stroke. (not ctl + 1)

yeah, i have the same issue. how do you create hotkeys for your brushes in Zbrush 4??

I found setting up hot keys for the brushes to be a little “fussy”. Makes sure you are ctl alt clicking the brush icon in the brush pallette in its default spot in the palette. I think my own problem with this came from attempting to set it from the top row of frequently used brushes…not tested though, so I could be wrong here.

I’m guessing you are confusing the alt key with the ctl key for painting masks. If you click on the brush icon while in mask making mode you will have a nice selection af masking options including MaskPen which is like a freeform brush using the ctl key.

For the pinch brush try the built in shortcut keys B (brush palette) P (all brushes starting with the letter “P” and H (the hot key for the pinch brush)

okay so the solution here is that you now need to CTL + ALT click, as opposed to just CTL clicking in 3.5

What I did is took the “.txt” hotkeys from my old version of zbrush as a new hotkeys for zbrush 4.
-preferences/hotkeys/load
