Zbrush 2019: How to import camera from C4d r15?

Hi,

In C4d r15 I exported a camera as a fbx file (fbx 7.4, 2014), but Zbrush 2019 says it did not import a cam file?
How can I export a camera from C4d r15 and import it to zbrush 2019?

Hi,

If you are on MacOSX then there is a known issue with importing cameras through FBX. This will be fixed as soon as possible.

Yes I have Mac Osx. You mean that this is an issue in Zbrush that you will fix, not something in C4d.

Another question for the time being: can I also set the exact position of the camera, of does the camera always have de postion of (x=0,y=0,z=0)? Same with the angle of the camera: can I set the angle in a precise way. Because, I am now thing of recreating the c4d-camera by putting in the same number in the Zbrush camera by hand.

Yes, it’s a problem with the FBX plugin for ZBrush and will be updated as soon as possible.

The Focal Length / Field of View settings should transfer directly over. For position and rotation, the best way is to adjust manually as there’s no simple way to input values.

I have a similar problem, on a PC with windows7.
ZB export fbx with a cam that I can open in 3dsmax, but all my attempts to export from 3dsmax2012,2014 to ZB failed.
In zbrush I have object and maps but no camera.
Hope it will be fix soon

millepat,

Can you let me have a sample FBX file from Max, so I can take a look?

Thanks,

Sure

one comes from 3dsmax8, fbx 2005
the other from 3dsmax2014, fbx2010FBX.zip (398 KB)

Thanks millepat, I’m looking into this. In the meantime, export using the most recent version of FBX you can. So in 3dsmax2014 use FBX2014. That may help.

Hi Marcus,
The camera FBX import is a feature I am waiting for a long time.
The new camera is wonderful

how will we be informed of the update?

thanks very much

The update will be announced on ZBC and the Pixologic main site.
