Z4 Installer Crashing: Error 1670: RESOLVED.

Update: DEP (Data Execution Protection) in Win XP was preventing the installer from running, but it wasn’t that clear in the cryptic error message. I remembered having this problem with ZBrush 3.5, and fixed it by adding the installer to the list of allowed DEP programs.

DEP can be found in the Control Panel under System>Advanced>Performance Settings>DEP (add the installer to the list of allowed proggies).

Hi there,

I am able to download Z4, but the first time I tried to install Z4, I got this error message (attached): 1670 Unable to Load Module. Error Code 998. This happens after the ZBrush 4 MSI is unpacking/extracting.

I have plenty of space on the source and install drives. I tried disabling Microsoft Security Essentials (real time virus/spyware scanner) and I still have the same issue.

I’ve downloaded Z4 twice and tried to install it, so it’s either a bad package file or maybe MSE is blocking the unpacking process.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Dan Burke

Not to hijack your thread but I am having a similar problem with windows 7… the error I get is with installshield 1152 unable to write to the temp folder… during the unpacking it crashes out and then says file is corrupt.

I thought maybe the download was corrupt but it doesnt seem to be.

Did you all get this fixed? I am having the same issue.

I found the DEP in win 7

Control Panel\System and Security\System
in the left had area of the window look for “Advanceed system settings”
Then click on the “Advanced” Tab
Then click on the “Data Execution Prevention” Tab

yeah it was a corrupt installer… I got another one and it worked…

Yep, the editing the DEP did not work. I sent an email to support to get an other download link. I will let you all know how that works out.
