Here is my model of The Thing based off art by Wayne Douglas Barlowe featured in his 1979 Guide to Extraterrestrials. The model still has a long way to go, but any critiques or comments will be most appreciated.
I’m currently working on a personal project involving 3d models based off of the alien designs featured in the 1979 Guide to Extraterrestrials by artist Wayne Douglas Barlowe. I have always been fascinated by his work and will translate his designs into fully realized 3d models. The extraterrestrials featured in the guide take on forms ranging from humanoid in appearance to the downright bizarre, but all are meticulously designed to remain within the realm of possibility. Most of the designs featured in the book was extrapolated from well known sci-fi literature at the time.
