Wacom Tablets

Anybody ever use Wacom Tablets with ZBrush :qu:

I don’t do anything in ZBrush without my Wacom tablet…

I have a Wacom Intuos 2 that works pretty good with Zbrush.

Heard that was the best there is. Anyways, I just can’t see anybody doing some serious CG artwork whatever app it might be without using some kind of digitizing tablet.

Try searching the forum. This topic has been done to death and alot of relevant information to your question exists in copius amounts.

I’m a Zbrush newbie and find that it’s very easy to feel the work with a Wacom tablet.

Had a weird problem the first time I tried it. The pen tip was acting as the eraser, while the eraser was acting as the tip.

If anybody has this problem, simply re-install the latest Wacom tablet drivers. My issues were solved instantly.

I totally agree, but a guy I work with still uses a mouse to paint -and his work rocks!

Me, never without it and if I can afford it one day: Cintique 21UX. In the meanwhile, if they could just make these things wireless…

of course, man:D wacom and zB are the best couple in the known Universe:sunglasses: :+1:

You’re looking for a wacom tablet worker with ZB.You’ve found it.It’s a mistic experience to work with my Intuos 3 A4…

wireless cintiq or wireless tablet? cos you can have both…

wireless tablet: http://www.wacom.com/graphire/bluetooth.cfm

wireless cintiq = tablet pc: http://www.cartoonmonkey.com/alias.html

when i get some free time i plan to take the zbrush on a usb stick to a tablet pc store, see how it runs… some newer tablets are looking very nice, good display res and moderate 3d accelleration. sounds like the perfect way to run zbrush!

Even something like the: ACECAT II would be far more preferable to the trackball I’m using now.

i am using wacom intuos 3 a4 for zbrushing and a happy zbrusher i am
worth everypenny

Go for a smaller Grapphire as a starter tablet (small investment huge return) . It’ll set you back a full Benjamin, but the price is scant for what you’ll get back from using it. After awhile you can make a more educated decision as to where you’d like to go from there.
I made the mistake of letting my eyes get too big for my stomach, um, rather my tablet too big for my desktop and purchased the 12x17 Intuous2 back in the day -and now realize that this size tablet is completely unnecessary for me. I have a smaller 9" one for work and it’s much easier to use -and it’s easier to store when I don’t need it (rare, but it happens).
I’d still get the 21UX if I could afford it, coupled with a 30" Apple display… okay, now I’m dreaming.

Sounds like a good value. I don’t have much space on my desk either, which is why I use a trackball. Thanks for the advice.:+1:

guys i have serious problems with my wacom cintiq when i use zbrush.
my pen does not work in conjunction with the alt button.
why?
does this happen to anyone else?
all i want to do is alternate netween Zadd and Zsub!
help would be appreciated.
thanks.

Well did you re-install your drivers? Are they the most current? Which OS? Have you set the options you want in the Tablet setup? You really need to provide a little more info so people can help you.

It should work fine, mine works fine, only had one issue during beta testing and it wasn’t Zbrush or Wacom’s problem.

There really is no difference between most of the graphire models right? That being said he/she should be able to find a USB one on ebay for under $75 easy.

Zbrush doesn’t take tilt into account right? So besides the levels of pressure (which is there really THAT much difference with Zbrush between 1024 and 512?) then a graphire sound good.

yes i do have the latest drivers and my tablet settings are setup properly as well.
they are setup to support the program but still the funcionality is missing.
the only way i can get it to work is by going to system services under the control panel and stopping and then restarting the service again.
but it gets reall annoying doing it every time and sometimes it crashes the system.
sigh…

Well your still not providing much info to help you. Earlier you said it wasn’t working, now you say it does but…

So what happens that is changing it from working to not working? What are you doing or what is the system doing?

If you don’t feel a difference exists, then go with what you like. If you are saying this from experience, I’d have to say you have your setup incorrect. The reason for the extra sensitivity is to satisfy the contro professionaals had been begging for years to have. But it’s not necessary for mouse style work…

well if iknew what the system was doing I wouldnt be posting on here.(not trying to be rude)all i know is that my drivers are updated and my tablet settings are setup properly.
i have added Zbrush as one of the programs it can function with.
it works fine with mudbox but it has its attitude with Zbrush for some reason.
and well it kind of works halfass.
what i am saying is that if i where to start Zbrush and then tried paiting on it it does not function properly.
it only pushes the normals inward.
i should be able to hold alt* and paint with the normals pushing outward.
now if I restart the services for the Wacom tablet under the administrative tools > under system services then it works for a while till it crashes.
but this is just a work around.
i should not have to restart my tablet services every time I start Zbrush.
