Another character that I’ve been working on in my spare time. This time focusing on White Spot Disease: Pigmentation Disorder in The Skin or VITILIGO
Vitiligo is recognized by white patches on the skin.
Vitiligo is a chronic (long-lasting) autoimmune disorder that causes patches of skin to lose pigment or color. This happens when melanocytes – skin cells that make pigment – are attacked and destroyed, causing the skin to turn a milky-white color.
The exact cause of white spot disease is not known. However, there is a connection with autoimmune diseases such as diabetes mellitus and certain thyroid diseases. Severe sunburns, stress, and skin damage such as neurodermatitis or psoriasis can make the white spot disease worse.
