Transfer of licence to new PC - problem

Hi All
I’m running a perpetual license of ZBrush 2022.0.7 and I want to tranfer it to a new PC.
I am not on any Maxon subscription plan.

I have downloaded the latest installer 2022.0.8 and installed it on the new machine.

However when I launched ZBrush I got a pop up informing me that I now needed to download the Maxon App 2023.2.2 which I did.

I launched ZBrush again and got another pop up: ‘You dont have any active licences for ZBrush’ and that if I do own one I am to open the Maxon app to select my license.

I did this but when I go to ‘Assign License’ it is greyed out.

I do not need or want to go onto a 2023 subscription plan at the moment so how can I simply transfer my current perpetual license to my new PC?

Hi @Garbage_Matt !

Where did you download your installer from? Maxon ZBrush is a different program and uses a different installer from the old Pixologic legacy system. If you downloaded the installer from the Maxon site, it is Maxon ZBrush and you will need a Maxon license.

If you are looking to download the latest installer for ZBrush 2022 for an old Pixologic perpetual license and have not transitioned to a Maxon account, then you would either upgrade an existing install with ZUpgrader inside your program folder, or you would download a full installer from your Pixologic My Licenses page just like normal to create a new installation.

If you still have a license through the old system, then you need to uninstall Maxon Zbrush and the Maxon app, and upgrade using the above resources.

Long story short:

ZBrush 2023–you need the Maxon App. There is no other version.

ZBrush 2022–depends on where your license is. If you still have an old Pixologic license and have not migrated/upgraded, then you upgrade using the same Pixologic systems you always did. If you’ve transferred your license you need the Maxon App and the Maxon version of ZBrush.

Please contact Maxon support for all issues regarding ZBrush licensing.

Thank you!

Thank you for replying Spydel.
Thats seems to have been the problem. I assumed that all 2022…0.8 installers were the same and I was trying to install the wrong one.
I’m now up and running.

Cheers!
