to add 2 displacement maps

Is it possible to add 2 displacement maps ?

I mean : to create 1 displacement map with 2 displacement maps.

Maybe with photoshop but how ?

Could you please provide more information about what it is that you’re trying to achieve? I can think of several possible ways in which you could be trying to “add two displacement maps”, and it would be necessary to understand which way you’re thinking of before any accurate help could be given.

Is it possible ?

Yes, it is possible. The catch is that unless both maps have exactly the same alpha depth factor it’s unlikely that you’ll get very good results. Details from one map will render out sharper than those from the other.

Another option would be to apply the first map to your model in ZBrush and follow the steps to convert those details to actual geometry (do a search here at ZBC for the term ApplyDispMap to learn how). Then load the second displacement map and repeat the process. You’ll now have one model that has geometry created by the sum of both displacement maps. Now all you need to do is go to level one, restore your original mesh, then create a new displacement map. This map will be a perfect sum of the two previous maps.

You can also accomplish this in your rendering software (if it supports it). In Maya for instance you can take three maps and combine them using utility nodes in the shader network.
It is a little trickier than doing it in Zbrush but you can control the amount of the mix and even animate it.
