Website toplessrobot.com is having an art contest about a “nerdy” theme. For my entry. will try to redesign the Ninja Turtles. Here is where I’m at so far. Have until the 28th, so gotta hustle.
Looks like you got a solid base for the anatomy. The only thing I would say is to not give them human hands and feet. Might be a pain in the ass to go back and change the number of digits now with such a tight deadline, but I think it might be worth it.
^ I disagree, giving them human hands and feet gives them a really nice freaky looking feel
First, thanks for the comments!! As far as the five fingers and toes, I never understood why they got reduced to 3 fingers and 2 toes. Yeah, its a comic book so info like that should just be regarded as a design decision, but that always bothered me. Not that I’m saying I’m doing a better job, I’m not trying to Shyamalan the original creators haha.
Awesome dude. Gonna try and get them all in?
@Floydshayvious Thanks for that. And yes, will try and get them all plus Splinter. Shredder, and Krang.
Going back to this project. Wanted to post what I had done last night.

Trying to go for a brawler look for Raf. Using Muay Thai fighters for references.

Cool stuff!! I am currently working on a shredder model myself. Hopefully it turns out.
Keep up the good work!
@AVBN5000 Thanks for the response, appreciate it that. And I hope the Shredder project works out as well. Would love to see it.
Two more updates before I knock out for the night

I love seeing interpretations of the Turtles, I recently did a Leonardo sculpt myself!
I’m liking the style you’re going with.
One suggestion is using different materials especially for the skin and the shell, as it looks a little too plastic, experiment with different matcaps to achieve a more natural look. Playing around with matcaps and BPR settings is a quick way to achieve great looking results.
Another thing is you might want to use alphas with polypainting to achieve subtle details like blemishes on the skin and other surfaces.
Keep going man!
@Carleel Thanks a lot for your response and advice. I’ve honestly never really used alphas to paint with. Will definitely have to try that out. Always wondered what was a good way to add inconsistencies in skin. Very cool. Also, will also try and apply the different materials to the subtools. Again, thanks!!
Very cool!
I really like the specular one in the last post, the last one has way to dark shadows.
@Santis Thanks for the reply. I will try and lighten up the shadows for the next render. Glad you liked it
Working on Ms. April o’Neil now

Here is the final sculpt and texture for Rafael
Good stuff man. Love the Raph design
Thanks a lot, appreciate that.
Thank you for saying that, very cool.
Here is the blocking stage for Leonardo. Wanted a samurai-ish look for him. but was mostly inspired by Donny Yen’s character from Blade 2. Have to do a lot of tweaking, but wanted to post what I had so far.
