Starfire Statue- DC Comics Teen Titans

Hello everyone,

Here are colored renders of my Second version of Starfire Statue. Since I received a commission from a great client of mine, I wanted to create a better version of my first Starfire Statue From DC Comics’ Teen Titans. I sculpted Starfire before and I was happy about it, but I wanted to challenge myself and create something more fascinating.

Starfire statue collectible was sculpted in Zbrush and rendered in 3DSmax using Mental Ray. I hope the fans like my work.

Wow! The amount of detail here is carzy! Is there any part of this you found most challenging?

Hello, Thank you. I’m glad you like my work.

Beautiful sculpt - also love the work on the base - beautiful colors and renders! :sunglasses: :+1: :star:!!!

Thank you! I think the hair was a great challenge since I also had to cut the hair into multiple pieces for 3d printing. So I had to keep going back and forth to have smooth cuts and keys.

Also the silhouette of the general look of the statue was another challenge. My client wished to have a very straight-forward pose. I couldn’t choose a dramatic pose. The star-ray energy trails were something that came into my mind along the process. So I’m happy about that and my client entertained it as well. He’s such a nice person and he was very supportive with new ideas. Do you have something else in mind you’d like to ask?

Thank you for the reply and the question? I would like to ask two more things.

First is, how do you get clients as an independent (I asume?) artist in the toy industry? Any resources you’d recommend? And second is, How and what materials do you use to print the energy orbs? I asume they will be transparent/glowing?

In terms of getting clients… well social media works. I also receive requests from my Artstation profile. I should mention that this isn’t my main profession. I mainly follow it as a passion. I used to learn 3d modeling from time time that I had 3Dstudio on my MS-Dos Operating system. But perhaps I should focus more on my exposure. I’ve seen some artists who are amazing and receive great deal of attention. Yet I see even more talented artists who don’t receive much exposure. So Marketing is way more effective than having awesome talents in almost any industry. It’s a sad truth.

I guess to print the star-ray energy trail, I would personally will choose a clear material. but I’m not sure what my client wishes. I’ll follow what makes him happy and makes his job easier.
