Is there a possibility to emulate spiraling fingermarks from top to bottom (and viceversa) around pottery forms?

Yes, have you got Sculptris?
If not get it here:

Once you have it installed (if you don’t already) look in “Options” you will see lots of stuff, about 2/3rd of the way down and you will see:
“Turn Table Animation”
Turn that ON.
Your object is now rotating just like it would on a potters wheel.

thanks a lot for reply.
It’s exactly what I did yesterday after posting.
I discovered the new Sculptris release, downloaded it and started experimenting with the turntable animation.
The animation is a little bit too slow, compared to a really potters wheel, but with some experience, I think it will do the work.
