Specular Map/Emissive Map Trick

Hey All…I was messing around tonight with Zbrush and if anyone has been trying to visualise how to paint specular maps in Zbrush, I can show you a quick way to visualise them.:

1: With your model, fill the object with the overall specular that you want in the renderer. So, go with 38,38,38, which is 15 percent grey. Something good for skin.

2: Select the “Metal 01” material

3: Paint!!!

Notice how the brighter the colour the shinier it will get. Also if you fill the object with black, you will see no shine. This also works with painting emissive textures if you use the “Glow” material and render the model at “Best”.

1: Fill the object with black

2: And PAINT!!! with the area you want to glow

3: Render the model at best quality

Enjoy…
