to date I have been looking for a good two to three weeks in 3D artist, 3D world and 3D creative tutorials looking for a good technique to help I modeling some footwear for a poser style model. meaning that the feet are already sculpted. I have tried the masking and extracting method but the toes being on the model are causing me problems. I have seen some really great work on the gallery section of zbrush central and thought some one here might have some insight or a good method to use. the other tutorials I have found so far have been no help, other sources I have found have been on digital tutors and pinterest. if anyone has insight advice or methods and or links to methods on shoes or footwear the info would be greatly appreciated thanks.
Hey Jon, the extract method is the way I generally go for making all clothing / footwear. Just need to do a bit of prep work before you extract.
For Shoes, duplicate your human model, drop down to your lowest subdiv level, and delete higher. Go solo mode, then isolate just one foot below the ankle. Then delete the hidden portion (‘Delete Hidden’ button ~ in Geometry).
Using the Move Brush and Shift Smooth(at low intensity) and pull out the sections between the toes and smooth as you go, until flat across.
Now ctrl + click to mask all, go down to extract and turn off double, set the extract size very very small, so it’s almost the same size as the foot.
Extract.
Grab the Zremesher Guides brush, and draw out a path you want the base of your shoe to follow. Good to pick up a pair of shoes or trainers and use them as a reference.
Now go to Zremesher in the Geometry Tab, set the target size very low, (1 should be fine) ~ then crank the curve guides up to 100 and hit remesh, & Bam, you have a base to work with that fits the foot.
Then it’s just a case of deciding what sort of cuts, straps, laces or laceless you want.
Stay on this first subdivision and work on it, use creases on edges to hold the form for when you do subdivide it later.
Before you subdivide it, mirror it across with Subtool Master > Mirror, so you have a pair.
Hope that helps a bit ~ Good luck ~ Cheers
thanks that was helpful
