Sculptris Alpha 6: It's HERE!

@Knacki
the funny is that the less density parts will have the less problem after subdivided. The denser are worst. Have a closer look on the xenoforge’s example.

But there’s a point on your statement. A serious problem after retopology and projection, shrinkwrapping. Try to bake nor or displ maps and have these artifacts there. An ugly tri effect on less denser areas. Now you have to smooth and resculpt details, losing any spontaneous stroke you had in sculptris.

This is very interesting, I’m starting to understand the problem now.
I liked it better when I dident!

GRIN!

Well, tried it and on my home pc it works only when manually export goz format from sculptris, and then import it in zb, and the same in the opposite direction. Anybody the same problem?

It already works on the mac… I have been using it with goz and zbrush no issue.

custom hotkeys? I am left handed and my right hand is toooo far from keyboard shortcuts … Love the program but without custom hotkeys its almost unusable for me

I am making a little progress with this, I have a way to go yet and some things to learn but Im about 1/2 way there I think!
THANK YOU!

Cheers!
Mealea

I am left handed as well, what keys are you having trouble with?

I found the solution for custom hotkeys in Sculptris: Autohotkey.
If you are left handed, here is a script made for you.

I use this script of Adam Lewis for custom brush-size hotkeys.

Cheers

is it the usual case that I have to wait some hours till the mail arives?

by me (nvm)

Maybe it`s in your email spam folder.

By the way, anyone else having problems opening Scultris Alpha 6 (Windows 7)?
Unfortunately it always crashs immediately.
I uninstalled and installed it again but it still doesn`t work.

Ok I sort of got it, I dont quite grasp #3 and part of #4 “have import settings-tri to quad on”.
But I did get some results and I think I can improve them a lot as I missed a step I think, the subdivide bit…
These are tools I haven’t done much with and haven’t got a good understanding of yet. (not subdivide, I push that past its limit all the time! hehe!)
I think that this problem is 100% fixable, I also think that someone with a little more experience and knowledge than me is going to have a bit more success than I am at least for now… however, Im going to keep working one it:
This was a Sculptris Object:

GRIN!!!
I love this, Im having way too much fun

Must be select systems. I’m running it on a Core i7-980x. No problems with hyper-threading on my end. Sculptris runs just fine, even with the affinity for CPU0 - CPU11 all turned on. If anything, Alpha6 runs a bit faster than Alpha5.

My only issue is that Sculptris complains when more than 24 edges are connected to a single point. This is a problem that shows up when you GoZ a Sphere from ZBrush. (Doesn’t happen consistently, oddly enough.)

BTW, my system specs are.

  • Intel Core i7-980x @ 3.33GHz (6-cores & 12 threads)
  • 24GB RAM
  • ATI Radeon HD 5770 1GB
  • Windows 7 Professional x64 SP1

I’m already incorporating it into my toy and statue sculpting workflow…it’s fantastic. Works great on tessellated scan and voxel generated tri’s. Dynamic tessellation is nothing short of revolutionary in my little corner of the digital world. Cannot wait for this to develop further. I recall the last build had file size limitations and haven’t really gone there yet to push it but all in all, I am really, really happy with this.

Sculpts buttery smooth and clean.

Great stuff.

Had to reinstal my pc so now Sculptris wont run  Win7 64bit

I get this error:

Thank you !!!

is symetry still a one way operation?

From my understanding Windows 7 has special hyperthreaded optimization routines that previous versions of windows do not enjoy… which would likely make the difference. I do intend to upgrade my OS but right now I am in the middle of a long project where I cannot.

Loving sculptris, Especially now that the controls are like Zbrush.
Can’t wait for an AutoRetopolgy tool built into GoZ to get from tri’s to quads.

Off track question. Can a mesh composed of triangles be printed?
