If I select the rectangular mask brush, click control and draw a rectangular mask there is no way to rotate that mask. Or is there? I want to select nice rectangles that are a bit rotated but I can’t seem to find how.
No, you can’t rotate a rectangle mask. You can use the Curve stroke to make angled rectangular masks. See image below. However this won’t work well if you plan on using lots of rectangles.
Thanks for the tip! I’ve considered that as well, but it is a little hard for drawing a long thin rectangle precisely.
-
Fill your mesh with white and turn off zadd/zsub, turn on rgb.
-
Select the clay line brush and make your primary color black
-
Adjust your draw size (draw with shift if you need to, but its probably not necessary), and draw as thick or thin a line at the angle you want a rectangular mask.
-
Switch to white and paint off the curved ends to make the drawn shapes rectangle
-
Go to your mask sub palette and select: mask by intensity.
-
Perform your operation
-
Remove the mask and then fill your object with white to remove the black rectangles drawn.
Or, you can use the Mask brush with a square alpha and turn on Stroke>LazyMouse>Backtrack>SnapToTrack>Line. Your line width will be whatever your draw size is.
That seems like the way to go! Thanks all for the tips! Highly appreciated.
