Right Click Shortcut Popup Customization

Is there a way to customize the right click menu? I swear that these move rotate etc buttons were on the top row before, but it’s now on the bottom. Did I push a button that I didn’t realize I pushed?

Also, is there a way to disable the middle click to pop up the shortcut menu? I found out after 3.1 that I got a habit of rolling the wacom pen barrel without realizing it. And I kept clicking the middle click somehow. (Strangely, that don’t affect me one bit in any other apps)

Thanks in advance.

I don’t think there’s a way to customize the quick menu. On the Wacom pen, I’ve disabled middle click because I keep hitting it.

to get those back on top goto preferences/interface and cick top popup transform.

Also since z2 i’ve been asking for a method to customize this popup menu, how hard can it be to let us do that?

SpaceBoy, you can customize your own pop up menu by creating a user palette. To do that enable Preferences > Custom UI > Enable Customize, create a new menu and CTRL+click drag UI elements into that menu. Switch off Enable Customize and assign a hotkey by CTRL clicking the menu title on the menu bar.

If you want to use the right or middle mouse button to bring up your palette you will have to use the Wacom Tablet Properties to assign the hotkey to the button (or some mouse configuration software if you are using a mouse).

The only limiting factor that I can see is the width of the pop up menu, which will be the same as what palettes use.

TVeyes, but will it function the same as the popup, meaning will it popup at the cursor location?

Yup

Doh, of course. Thanks Mark.

holy crap! that is awesome, now i already have 2 custom popups plus the standard, talk about being able to maximize my workspace. Thank you so much.

Is there also a way to customize the Pop Up Help windows in Z3.1

I'm having a hard time reading them because of the transparency... how can I make them more or completely opaque like Z3

I tried the PopUp Opacity slider they don't seem to work except the shadow slider and i don't need that

Opps, I found the solution>> Quick Info Opacity :+1:
I thought that was for the Quick Menu instead of Pop up Help

thanks me

Preferences > IColors > Quick Info Opacity should do the trick if you set it close to -100 or 100.

There is also Popup Opacity, Subpalette Opacity, Quick Menu Opacity. Basically all the opacity you will ever need

On custom menus, it seems logical that a custom menu is tied to the customUI it was created under. For instance, if someone sets up three different customUIs stored in the Startup\UserInterfaceLayouts folder, then cycles through those using the UI arrows added to the 3.1 title bar, will each customUI bring along (make available) only its own custom menus?

Another question on custom menus. Once created, is there a way to delete custom menus from a given customUI? Or should a version of the originalUI be stored separately before experimenting with custom menus?

BTW, the idea to create your own custom popups is brilliant stuff, thanks TVEyes.

Sven

p.s. one interesting thing about the UI view cycling arrows is that the contents of the ZScript window are redisplayed when you cycle around to the original UI again. That’s pretty cool.

Hi Sven,

Custom menus are linked to the custom UI they were created in, so it’s necessary to save out a version without the new menu. Indeed, it’s better to save the UI rather than store the configuration until you’re happy with the arrangement.

There’s currently no way of deleting a custom menu. (In ZB 3.0 you could clear it of buttons and it would disappear on restart but that no longer works in 3.1.) There’s also no way of importing a custom menu created in one custom UI into another custom UI (although I hope to provide a zscripted - although limited - way of doing this at some stage.)

If anyone finds a way of scripting putting the menus in either tray please let me know.
