Rhino - Animal Warrirors

Hello,
It was very long since I last posted something here so its about time!
I thought I´d share a personal project of mine that I recently called done. Everything was modeled/sculpted in Zbrush and textured in Substance Painter, rendered in Vray/b, fur was done with Xgen and lastly some composition in photoshop.

The inspiration came from watching (too many) movies with anthropomorphic animals and I wanted to create my own small part of such a world but a very gritty one.

I like to apply some backstory whenever I work on something and what I tried to do with this is convey a rough, primitive and cruel world where the carnivores and herbivores are at war, and where the herbivores could be looked on as the more barbaric ones.

Thanks for reading,

more stuff from me can be found on my artstation

This is how I start, just a very quick sketch not worrying about anything in the beginning.

I think next in line is the Bison

This one’s epic. I’m a huge fan of anthropomorphic animal design! I’ve seen plenty of those on the livestreaming platform picarto.tv and I highly enjoy watching some livestreams there. You don’t happen to do livestreaming on platforms like twitch or picarto? Though, picarto is more art-related.

Thank you Inoutan!

I hadn’t heard about picarto before but I’ll check it out!

I’ve given it much thought of doing streams or just
tutorials. I think prerecorded tutorials on youtube will
suit me best, when I get around to it

You should definitely check out picarto! The community is just great and I love the fact that you can interact with the person streaming via chat. It’s aimed towards creative people only and that’s what I like about picarto. No gaming or anything like that, just art.
They also have this new event system where you can basically host an event (like tutorials etc.), sell tickets and set the price for them, which isn’t too bad of an idea. For me as a learner, I think it’s great to be able to talk to so many creative people :+1:small_orange_diamond:)
Of course, you’ll have to decide for yourself if the whole livestreaming thing is for you.

please dude do the elephant !!! and try it to add more anatomy as you can !! they are lovely …

try to get different histories, also try to get more deep about the context if is medieval paladin a pirate or science fiction machine gunner …

will be great if each one have a different context, you can challenge yourself to mix the real animal anatomy and human maybe in the lower limbs … just my humble opinion ,keep it up

Thank you Eduardo!
I got the Hippo starting, but been thinking of doing two in parallel so I´ll consider the elephant then

I tend to think of a backstory whenever I´m working on something (makes whatever I´m working on feel a bit more real and easier to design).
I think I´ll compose a more substantial lore when I do the next upload.

Thanks for crits and comments!
