Retop hide backface?

Unsure if this has been asked a hundred times before, but when editing topology (for retop) is there anyway to hide the backface? As you can see in the picture below, there are many green lines showing through my ‘rig’ model that i’m retopologising, it gets very confusing to work on.

how can i hide these backfaced lines? or make them a little more subtle

Sad to say but Zbrush’s topo tool isn’t very good. I would recommend a combination of Zmesher and an external 3D program, e.g., Blender.

I would! and i know it’s terrible, but it gives the best results for projection, getting the closest to the original mesh, i create a seperate mouthbag in 3ds max and it usually messes the topology that i need to smooth for ages after.

IN FACT i’ve just reopened my file, and the topology i had finished is now gone!.. in all save files, this happened before and so this has led me to the conclusion that zbrush is a ****e-bastard

EDIT!!! - actually clicking on the ‘polymesh3d’ and looking throught the ‘quickpick’ i found it!!! don’t understand, but very happy!

There’s an update for ZBrush… 4R6 P2 is the latest.

Topology workflow:

Create two copies of your original high poly high detail model.

Use Zmesher on one of the copies.

Decimate the 2nd copy to a low enough poly to bring into other 3D programs. This doesn’t need high detail but the general shape of the model.

Bring both the Zremeshed model and decimated model into Blender, 3D Max, Maya or equivalent.

Use the decimated model to snap vertices of the Zremesh/retopo model as you make changes.

Bring the retopo mesh back into Zbrush and project the details.

This should keep your projection issues to a minimum. Zbrush old retopo is just too tedious compared to other available tools. It’s not worth the trouble.
