Raptor Wip

Hey guys its been awhile sinces I’ve done anything and suprise suprise Im no better since then, I know theres probably loads of problems with my stuff so any advice on my technique or comments on my model would be great. I’ve been showing this model on youtube in a series of sculpting timelapse videos heres the link http://au.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=DF419CEF4AE98C13.

Also does anyone know how i can do the teeth for this guy without using subtools or mesh insert?

Looks promising. I think, the head and the shoulders are weird a bit. If you are not wanted to use subtools, I offer you to use snakehook brush for the teeth, but using subtools is a much better way. Anyway, I think I’m as the same level, as you in ZBrush.

Always check some image reference when your sculpt…for exemple, arms onyour model didn’t work at all just check for more reference its the key. I think the best way to add teeth on your model is to add mesh/subtool.

You should focus on the overall shape and structure of the raptor before moving on to the things like scale patterns and toenails.

The arms and legs come off the body strangely, as there should be more connection between them at the hips and shoulder joints.

The thighs need more mass, and the torso also does.

It’s hard to tell from the angle, but the base of the skull where it meets the spine looks like it should be broader, with more differentiation between and head and neck.

kK Well i’ve got to look at some references, shame these things are dead its hard to get a good photo to work from. I did think my arms where a little…off.

Ok i am using subtols for the claws cause i can get good detail from that but for teeth i dont want to use mesh inset cause it stuffs with posesing when i get to that and if i do each tooth as a seperate subtool or even a group it’s incredibly time consuming. So I might go with Bukoba’s idea and just sculpt them in once i get the proportions and shape right.

To everyone im am taking a few liberties with the design of the raptor and just combining elements of different refferences if seen but the general shape is being taken directly from reference… this is just proof that i cant follow reference.

Nicholasmc1, I exported my mesh to the 3D Max, and modelled the teeth. It’s easier to import this way, because the size and the position will be perfect. After inserting the parts, I sculpted them a bit.
