Quicksaving stops

I have come to rely on using quicksaves when working and until the latest release, its worked well for me. Unfortunately ZB seems to stop quicksaving completely when it reaches the specified number in the quicksave preferences. Meaning, I have the max, 100, set for the number of quicksaves. What ZB seems to be doing is stopping saving when it hits that number without warning me or simply overriding/deleting earlier quicksaves. The lack of a warning has caused me to lose a lot of work as it seems ZB is quick saving as intended.

Is this a known issue? Is there a workaround?

ctrl+s does a pretty good job

You should consider that there might be a reason someone uses quicksaves rather than acting like a wiseass who provides a reply that doesn’t really address the original question.

When the maximum is reached the earliest files are deleted as new files are saved. The files aren’t overwritten, as each file has a numeral which is one more than the previous file.

If that’s not how it’s working for you then you should contact support and explain exactly what you are seeing.

Yeah, it doesn’t seem to be doing that. It will just stop saving new quicksaves. I’ll check with support. thanks

Pretty sure I’m quoting you here correctly.

“Is there a workaround?”

To getting quicksave to work properly not using ctrl-s to save a project.

ok, so Pixologic support responded with:

“The behavior you are seeing is correct. The number of QuickSaves is how many ZBrush will retain. At the point that it hits that number, it starts overwriting the oldest file.”

If ZB is simply overriding older files than how can I find the latest quick save file? Also, quick save doesn’t sort numerically as it used to:

Which adds to the quick save confusion when I have upwards of 100 quick save files. I hope I’m simply overlooking something with quick saves in 4r8.
