This Headdress is inspired by Queen Nzinga of Ndongo and Matamba 1583-1663

Who was Queen Nzinga?

Queen Nzinga Mbande was the queen of the Ambundu Kingdoms Of Ndongo and Matambe now known as northern Angola.
She Ruled during the rapid growth in the African Slave trade and the Invasion of the Portuguese Empire in South West Africa, in an attempt to control the slave trade. Nzinga fought for the independence of her kingdoms against the Portuguese, her reign lasted 37 years. Nzingha died December 17 1663 in her sleep from a lung infection. She is remembered for her intelligence, Her political and diplomatic wisdom and brilliant military tactics.
