problem with brush size

Well after pulling my hair out for a couple hours I’ve come here to ask what is probably a very simple question.

I’ve gotten to the point on my model where i’m starting to work on smaller details but when I set the modeling brush to it’s smallest size (1) it still paints like a brush of about 10 - 15. This only seems to happen on my mesh I imported from max and not other 3d objects within zbrush. What am I doing wrong? I’ve subdivided the mesh to 1 million polys and it still paints these large chunky strokes even though the brush size is set to 1.

I’ve searched through the forums and have watched many tutorials but haven’t been able to find any answers.

Thanks.

The draw size relates to the models actual size in ZBrush units. If the model is too small in ZBrush units it may not be possible to edit single vertices/points. Your model from 3DSMax is apparently to small to import into ZBrush without a little help.

The most immediate solution is to resize the model within ZBrush. Set Tool > Deformation > Size at 100% to double the models size in ZBrush units. If you need to export the model back to 3DSMax you can then perform a Size deformation at -50%. You can of course apply multiple 100% Size deformations and you can reverse that with multiple -50% Size deformations.

A more permanent solution is to change a ZBrush import preference. If you consistently model at about the same size in 3DSMax you can adjust the Preferences > ImportExport > Unify Scale slider. Setting it higher than the default 4 should help if your model is too small in ZBrush units. Set it lower if your models are too big. Remember to press Preferences > Config > Store Config afterwards.

The size change Unify Scale performs on your imported model is stored in the tool. If you should export that tool the reverse size change is performed.

You can view the actual size of your model in ZBrush by looking at the Tool > Preview subpalette.

TVeyes,
Great that was the problem thank you so much for your help!
