Polish a cylinder

Hi there,

I am practicing hard surface modeling but I can’t get cylinder’s edges nicely hard…
I mean I’ve done the cylinder, divided it and polygroup each side to get a polish by group working, but this is the result (attachment)

I don’t understand.
Any Idea?

It looks like those two edges sticking out are creased, but the rest of the geometry has been deformed a bit and is no longer a perfect cylinder. Activate dynamic subdivision to see how the mesh will look subdivided.

You can crease them, either by:

  1. Hiding all but the end cap polygroups, and going to Tool > Geometry > Crease > Crease Border.

or

  1. Setting ZModeler to Edge > Crease > Edgeloop Complete and clicking on the edges you want to crease

or

  1. Also with ZModeler, set to Edge > Insert > Single Edge Loop, insert another edgeloop near the edge you want to crease, and slide it very close (Edge > Slide> Edgeloop complete) but not touching the edge loop you want to crease. This will have the same effect.

Hello;

Thx Spyndel, i didn’t know the dynamic subdivision option… very nice.
