pivot point problems

I has a look at a few answers, and they didn’t seem to get around this one…

I have a symmetrical model in a T-stance with everyhting but the arms hidden, I need to be able to sculpt with X symmetry on across both arms, but I want to be able to set the pivot about the right arm.

If I hide everyhting but it, and then S-Pivot, and then unhide the arm, the symmetry no longer works, I have to re-centre the pivot again. Surely there is a way to get around this? I want to sculpt centered around the right arm knowing it will mirror across OK

Thanks

Ben

Enable Transform > Local Transformations , also found in the floating palette on the right.

With Local Transformations enabled the last point edited becomes the new center of rotation. It does not affect the Pivot Point so symmetry and deformations will still apply to your model as if it was centered, or whatever Pivot Point you have set.

Another option is to only work on 1 arm. When you are finished, restore the pivot point to it s center position and copy the changes to the other arm by using Tool > Deformation > Smart Resym.
