Painting with images comes out faint and distorted

I’ve been doing this on other models without a problem. Now when I try to paint with an image it comes out faint and distorted. Even after laying it down several times I never get more than 50% of the darkness it should have. Even when I paint with solid color it comes out faint. I included the full screen so you can see intensity is at a 100% and everything else should be set right. So you know what I tried I tried deleting masks incase it some how got a mask applied but that did nothing. I thought there might be a UV causing the distortion. Zbrush had applied a UV to the original shape but deleting that didn’t stop the distortion. Kind at witsend. I spent an hour trying everything and even restarted the software but nothing changed. I’ve hit a road block with this one. I haven’t a clue what could be causing this?

To me it seems that the alpha you are using is causing the fade out issue.
Also make sure you have the Focal Shift set to -100 (Hotkey: O) to prevent the brush to fade out on the borders.

HTH

Turned out it was the Crumple tool causing it. When I used Zbrush back in the day that tool wasn’t around. It was causing twists in the geometry that was also affecting the resolution in some areas. I could get rid of the problem by using Dynamesh but it was just easier to avoid the tool. Too bad because it made great rock textures.
