Opening & Rigging .ZTL files

I am a 100% newbie to ZBrush & know this is a big request, but…

I have two completed .ZTL files. If someone would please instruct me how to
open, rig/add “bones” to them so they can can be posed, it will be greatly appreciated.

thanks,
T

what do you want to rig them in? Zbrush? Look into transpose master and Zspheres.

Sorry, beta_channel. I should have included that I just recently purchased ZBrush, and do not have
any other comparable programs capable of rigging them, but even so I would rather learn to rig them in ZBrush.
Thanks, I will check that out.

These tuorials should help you out.

NOTE: Transpose Master is already included in ZBrush 4R6 so there is no need to download it, as might be suggested in some of the links.

ZBrush Rigging Part 1

ZBrush Rigging Part 2

ZBrush Rigging Part 3

Thank you. I will look into these tomorrow. One other thing: I can open the .ZTL files in my ZBrushOSX 4R6 program by loading it, and dragging the cursor to enlarge them, but when I try to rotate them, I get more images that are all mashed into each other like the hapless sailors from “Philadelphia Experiment”. Can you also help me with this problem?

Right after you draw it out, hit T or edit, then you can work on it, otherwise you will just keep drawing copies. Messed up canvas?, hit ctrl+N to clear it.

Thanks, Doug! Hitting “T” got me started on my journey.

I am studying the first tutorial http://tinyurl.com/kv8nbgb and got through the first 5 steps, but am stuck at 1:14 / 14:28,
re: “creating a Z-sphere rig”. I can’t seem to “turn on symmetry mode” correctly, as my Z-shere only has ONE dot and not two as Paul has on the vid. Can someone direct me how to get the two dotted Z-sphere? A clearer screen shot with the correct settings would be great.

Thanks!

See if your symmetry settings are set as below.

If you have the above symmetry settings set the same and you still only see one dot, then your zsphere might be snapped to a side view instead of the front view. If that’s the case, rotate the zsphere until you see both dots then hold Shift while rotating to snap it to the front orthographic view so you have a dot on each side.
