OBJs from Zbrush and importing to Keyshot problem (OBJ separated)

hi! Z gurus…and Keyshot gurus…

i’m done modeling speaker.

I got a problem handling OBJs in Keyshot

I found it had to be separated OBJs (from separate subtools without mergedown in Zbrush)

to render parts separately in Keyshot.

So I got like 7~8 OBJs exported from Zbrush
(from Zbrush - Subtool master - export to OBJs- open them one by one in Keyshot)

the problem is …in Keyshot, the ground plane hangs in the middle of my model and couldn’t get it down(to ground level)

I tried move my model but somehow only one(speaker box) part snaps to ground and others stay where they were.
(Snap to ground failed)

  1. Is there anyway to move my model all together in Keyshot??

  2. how do you guys export to OBJs from Zbrush… generally to renderer?? (if got no Goz plugin or Keyshot bridge)

Why don’t you use the FBX plugin to export from ZBrush as an FBX file. You can export all the subtools together and they will be grouped inside KeyShot.

thanx Marcus!

I just tried what u said and it works perfect

I never heard about FBX plugin before

thank you again!

just found FBX didn’t allow me to apply different materals for each parts…only one materials for whole.

same as… OBJ from 1 subtool (able to move parts together but unable to render each parts)

what should I do??

If you open the Scene tab in KeyShot you should be able to click on the little + signs to expand the node. You can then drag a material directly on top of the default material for the subtool.

Another way is to turn on Export Polygroups as Mats in the FBX plugin options (click on the bottom button in the plugin interface to show the options). This will give you a different color material for all the polygroups, which will be one per subtool unless you’ve added more groups.
