:)hello! just come back from vacations… a lot of HOT in france this summer!hope you had a fine time all around… i did’nt do a lot of things during holidays with computer,my wife having a very firm idea on that topic,I just begin to think about going from z tools to nurbs: i mean that it would be interesting to rework z forms with the tools of nurbs modelling; the process is’nt easy,to change to nurbs, and if anybody has a simplest way, it would be very fine! in this picture, the hand and arm are ztools, they are changed in nurbs forms, and then easily mixed with “industrial” forms… I’m working on a horse, half “life”, half mechanic… hope to post it soon… also Very excited by the displacement map that M.Alon explained… I think it’s going to open a whole new range of work between diferent software… Friendly M.
Hy Marcel I am glad to know about you again with this impressive work¡¡¡ Good vacation¡¡¡
This post is superb¡¡¡ and the work you mention already interested sound very interesting and I will appreciate if you can explain a little bit to one like me that does not any background in this field, about nurbs and what program you want to work with nurbs, the kind of “mixed” work,
and for the most, excuse me for taking your time.
But the more important is that your post is just fantastic and very original and update¡¡¡
Congratulation
Hi Marcel !
Cela a chauffé cet été, c’est sur
Clap clap for the hands
In what program the ReNurb mixed ? (Rhino, amapi,3Dmax…)
Have happy Zbrushing!
Pilou
Comme d’habitude fantastique Marcel !!!
And of course, the same question : which nurbs program do you use ? Personnally I work with Lightwave, but it can’t change n-gons (polygons with more than four sides) into subdivision surfaces. I like Wings 3D which is a free subdivision surface modeler with very useful tools and a fantastic potential (even if it’s user interface is a little bit rough), and I am testing a demo of SILO , which is very promising and very low cost !
Kindly,
ivan
I believe that 3Ds Max makes automacticly the conversion in Nurbs model (if you want) !
Pilou
thank you! fp on a presque fondu cet été… andreseloy, it’s difficult to explain in few words, but model in NURBS allow very subtle and precise, and quick change of geometry…it’s used for industry models; the interest is that the form is always very “smooth”, like the polygons in zbrush; but polygons and nurbs don’t go “together”; you have to choose, and before the post of frenchy pilou, i was sure that ther was no easy way to translate…i use rhino, as i think the most powerful nurbs modeller; in rhino the “level curve” are functional on meshes; so if you do level curves very near, then you loft them, you have a copy nusbs, you can rebuild it more lighter, (much more), and so on… in theory: very often it’s tricky, ther is “crease” and bad things in the form, and you have to split the curves, to allow a more controlled “loft”… amitiés M. Frenchy, t’es sur pour max? je connais pas du tout…(!)(si oui je vais essayer vite!) just a word about zbrush: the intuitive moddelling of zbrush is so fast that often it take much more time to “translate” than to modell!!!
Hy Marcel thanks for your quickly attention to anwser¡¡¡ I think your project is a great one¡¡¡
Congratulations¡¡¡
very sorry skycastle! i see your precedent post, superb hands, and realize i’ve given the same title! Frenchy, ther is a way to change the title, to avoid confusion?
If your post is less than 30 days old, you can click Edit Post in the first message. This allows you to also change the subject line.

glad to have to back posting marcel! everyone of your posts amazes me! i really admire your style! i am a newbie to the whole CG world, so i don’t know much about NURBS, but it sounds very interesting. great piece!

Hi Marcel
Quasi sur pour Max !
Il le faisait déja pour la 2.5 alors pour la 5 et des poussières il doit ne pas y avoir de problème !
Menu Modifier /“Editer la pile”/ Convert to Nurb !
Pour Amapi 5.15 : Mode Nurb = Ctrl + B
Pilou
Ps Le changement de titre : aucun probleme
C’est toujours le bouton “Edit Post”
I heard about the heatwaves in France, Marcel- you must have quite a tan from the sun.
Great image and good luck mixin’ it with the nurbs.
Very exciting concept Marcel!
And such good modeling.
The lighting and lighting color is also spectactular.
I think this might help, herefro what I understand(not much) its a program that helps for converting polgons in NURBS, Id appreciate any info on the differences, what are NURBS etc.
for a confusing document on nurb and how they are calculated, or something click here
Hello Marcel
I believe that this Artist Miguel Berrocal example and solution here has made an incredible Horse in mixed metal
I must research more
Pilou
Excellent work Marcel!
How do you import OBJ files in Rhino, since Rhino does not provide OBJ import ? Do you use a converter ? Which one ?
Xin, thank you: in the ressources of rhino site, you have a plug in import obj, in fact two :one free, i have, very good, an another for sale, maybe better…M.
Hellou Marcel
In Max
I don’t believe that I confuse
Pilou
garggle frenchpil, c’est une primitive que vous me montrez la!tu ne vous confuse point sur les primitives, mais un beau gros objet zbrush, it’s an another pair of manche… rhino a sorti smurf, un plug in destine a ça…a premiere vue il marche moyen moyen, et encore + laborieux que ma méthode! si tu as max, essaye avec une sphere 3d triturée, ma reconnaissance sera éternelle… (enfin maybe) amitiés !!!
