I am trying to create a Normal Map within ZBrush from a model imported from Maya 6.5 (the model has been UV Mapped manually).
I only want to test the ZBrush Normal Map creation for now, so I just did some silly modifications to my model after I subdivided to a few million polygons. After the modifications I then proceed to the lowest subdivision of my model and I scroll down in the Tool Pallete to “Normal Maps”
Under Normal Maps I enable Tanget, adaptive and I change the Normal Map resolution to 512. I then press Create Normal Map. Of course, ZBrush then goes through it’s paces and takes about 1 or 2 minutes to create the normal map on the low res model based on the high res. But when the normal map is applied to the model (and visible in the Texture pallette), it is nothing but a giant blue/purple texture map! It’s pretty much blank! And it creates a normal map that looks like it wasn’t even nearly based on my high res model.
In other words, I’m just getting a blue-ish/purple-ish blank texture map instead of a proper normal map.
Can somebody help me please!
