Noise Brush

Hi there, this is my first post and i am going to make some noise(joking). I was trying to follow a zclassroom tut, but i cant make the same noise imprint for noise brush as what noise maker is showing. Is there something wrong with that brush?

Hello @Procrastinator

It would be extremely helpful here to know which tutorial in the classroom you are following, what brush you are using, and what results you are getting with it. Screenshots would be of great use. You can drag and drop a screenshot directly into the text window here to upload it to the thread.

Thank You!

Hi, thanks for replying.

I was able to paint on the edges but not on the flat surface. I had preference(main menu)>>init zbrush just to make sure all were set to default. Surface(right panel)>>Noise was able to set noise to all surfaces as expected. But the noise brush cant seem to perform the same as seen in the video.

I even changed the material to droplet (very reflective material). There were noises on the surface, but it was very light.

I don’t work with the noise brush much, but it’s simply a matter of the brush settings in the Brush palette. You can apply surface noise with any brush by enabling it in Brush> Surface. You may find that a more conventional brush like Standard or Layer provides more predictable results. When you find a brush that you like, simply go through the brush settings and compare each brush where they differ. Change the noise brush to match those settings. You’ll find the settings that are most responsible for the difference in behavior.

The reason you are experiencing different results than the tutorial, is because the nature of your subject differs. Try using it on something like the Demo Head model in Lightbox rather than a planar cube, to more closely match the nature of the subject in the tutorial.
