New SubTool icons...what do they do?

I can’t seem to find info on the new Subtool layer icons (the ones that look like boolean operation icons). What do all the icons next to the “eye” do in the subtools?

Included in your ZBrush 3.5R3 folder are two PDF’s. One of them covers the new features in this version of ZBrush.
