Join up with 3d.sk and download as many hires refferences as you need.

hey man, when thinking about a neutral pose dont do the classic T section. i know its the defult but frankly it will bunch muscles and bunched muscles are not neutral. the best example of this is the gnomon geo_body. if you look at the pose you can see its relaxed. spread fingers. with a slight offset on the little finger and a good curve of action. at the end of the day take photos of yourself. and if its for animation spreading the major limbs apart will help. ive attached an image of the perfect neutral pose. all props go to gnomons talented Cajun Hylton for the base model. peace out and happy modelling.

Thats the way my models ends up ,but I do start with a slightly relaxed T pose so I can get to the arpits and work on the fingers length, proportion and detail before bending them. When Zack pectroc done the male and female anatomy videos, he started with a pose closeto what you have there only thing was he wasnt using a photo refference, he was free sculpting.

At 3D.sk there are models with a slight relaxed posed on the arms, from all angles.

I think the key for delminiature next base is form, weight, posture. Transpose will help him achive that. Iv had to learn the hard way and that is, dont be tempted to detail, sculpt muscle anatomy, untill your happy with the finnal pose, you will only have to scuplt and re-sit 90% of the model again.

Thanks A lot, I’m looking at the link all of you send me!

I will get my paws on most stuff you sent me and I may also go buy some tutorial for Zbrush on gnomon.

Thnaks again

How does this new neutral pose effect rigging?

Thanks.

its good for weight painting. specially in maya.

neutral pose is perfect for animation.

Well I’m still an intermediate rigger in Maya, so I was curious how it effects drawing bones, orientation, or maybe it doesn’t matter? I did model something with the arms down but haven’t rigged it yet. Just trying to get an ideal of the technical concerns.

BTW, I saw the Cajun DVD…or some of it…They didn’t go into how it was rigged.

That would have been real nice too. I mean all the parts on the suit.
