need to delete faces on detailed model.??

Hey,

Is there a way to delete faces from an already finished sculpt without losing surface detail?

The way i tried was as follows…

  1. goto lowest subdiv level and mask off the part i want to delete.
  2. convert mask to polygroup.
  3. hide the poly group > delete hidden.
    I then get a message saying that the model is being sub divided.

when i do this and then go back up to the highest sub division, it’s like the whole model has been smoothed out.

is there another way to do this?
or should I be more mindful and delete these faces before I finish the sculpt?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Clone it, delete the faces on the clone then append it as a subtool to the
original and project all to it.
