Hello Everyone! I’m trying to understand what does “Mean slider” (Project All subpalette) make for very long time? I’ve tortured many collegues about “Mean slider” function. And unfortunately not many of them ever used this slider. So I’ve decided to ask you, as ones of the most experienced user of ZBrush: ”What “mean slider” does?” And How you used it? What is the reason/situations this slider should be used for?”
I’ve read Documentation. It said: ”Takes the average of the point difference from target mesh to source mesh and sets this as the plateau for Project All”.
I made few tests. I understood that “Project All” function projects Target mesh vertexes to Source mesh along target mesh vertex normal within Dist slider setup. But I can’t understand:
-
What is the “plateau” for “Project All”, and how “Project All” uses it? What characteristic of the points “plateau” averages? Position in 3d space?
-
What is the measure unit of “mean slider”? For example Dist slider’s unit depends on bounding box of Source mesh. Setup Dist Slider to 0.2 means project distance something like 20% of bounding box source mesh. So when we set up “mean slider” to 10, what will this mean? 10 of what units (and what they depend on)? Why is it’s default state 25?
-
Why values higher than 25(default) (in my tests it’s 10 max) doesn’t change the results of projections?

Thanks everyone for your time and experience!
