male and female heads

Modeled the female the other night and the male today…lol she is so butch looking…male faces are so much easier to model for whatever reason…just can’t seem to get the fem models the softness. grrrrr… The female reminded me of Marta Plimpton or the actress on 3rd Rock from the Sun…still manly looking…

thnx for looking…and c and c welcome

(edited…thumbnailed gallery image for updated one)

no paint on the male head obviously…eyes on both are the same texture and put on seperate layers.

update on male head

I have been painting around some hair and somewhat subtle paint on the face… baked the head layer, fiber brush and simple brush used for all hair.

(2nd edit same reason)

***thnx for the input on the duo image…mucho appreciated.

Worked a bit more on him…gave him a neck and shirt

Female heads are an exercise in subtleties, with many features of male face much more muted. The female jaw is more gracile for example, so it should be based on a thinner, lighter bone, less angular. Female brows look better if the more subtle and higher than you have depicted, with a bit more of an arch that the eyebrow rests on.

The mouths are slightly on the wide side, possibly because the eyes are slightly set wide.

The end of the jaw on the female might be a little narrower, making it less prominate/square.

Female nostrils on caucasians tend to look a little better if they’re not quite so flared. (Although a unique nose can spice up a face quite a bit.)

thnx again Kerwin.

Worked on this one late last night/this morning…similar pose setup to a couple of older images of mine. New head and hand. Reworked the cloth tool I had on hand and of course my old hat tool  . Still I have to texture and paint this experiment later on today or tonight. No biggy, just enjoying z3.

thnx for lookin’,

Nice ghoulish looking one. Reminds me of a Lovecraft character . . .

Like the ghoul, reminds me of a character i cant recall right now, first I was think the Tall man in Phantasam, bit its not him I’m thinking of.

When Modeling female faces i find it helps a lot to keep you tool brush kept really low like between 5-10 it can be slow going and sometimes its dificult to notice the strokes. But it gives a nice smooth finish, which helps define between Male and female. Also taking in the advice Kerwin gave.

Having said that, my wife keeps telling me that my Siren sculpt which is female, looks to male in the face!!! and I know she’s right but what ever i do to refine it she keeps rubbing it in. LOL

august82007maleheadRonfaceSammysLips1neck1dJJ.jpg thnx guys…took a little break but I am back now…

this starts my Z 3.1 works…

3d sphere head I made this evening and textured it with an ugly (mafugly) pic of me I took today…and the lips were textured with an image of my buddy’s daughters lips…used the clone brush to blend up the two different pics and to do some corrections up of the left side of the head/eye hole. May have to give this guy a hair treatment… some Z-Rogain formula…

Love the 3.1 upgrade…

Ron

edit…this is the final on this one I believe…thnx for lookin’

This is looking good Ron, I like the skin texturing. Funny only the other day when I was looking at your work, I was wondering if you had ever done a self portrait of yourself Zombified, ok so he’s not a zobmbie hear but you are using your own Face as a texture. Did you have a nice holliday? With the weather we have had in the UK this year Iwish I could get way somewhere nice and hot:cry:

Keep up the good work mate.
