Making a directional brush stroke

I made my own foot steps alpha for the brush. Is there a way to make directional brush stoke to print foot steps following the mouse curor path?

You have the button “Repeat Last”
who redraw exactly the same mouvment of your cursor during the last action!
Very useful in some situation!
Pilou

There is no way for the alpha to rotate to anything other than 90 degree increments, and there is no way to tie rotation to mouse direction.

:frowning:

Hi Jay
You can rotate an Alpha with the Cameyo Zplace Script and the mouse direction too
Pilou

huh… I will look into cameyo’s zplace. I never like to load zscripts. I wish it was already in menu or something

Frenchy,

Cameyo’s ZPlace is for 3D object.

What I posted is for texture and freehand brush in 2D mode.

No Washington !
Cameyo’s Zplace run also with a simple brush!
Take normal brush + Stroke Drag Rec + rgb 100% + Alpha as you want

:large_orange_diamond: Draw one brushing
:large_orange_diamond: "Get Status"
:large_orange_diamond: "Snap On"

And you can move your brush as a car tele-guided with the numeric keyboard
You can of course change the X Y move for obtain any angle :sunglasses:
But Alas Rotation can’t work :frowning:
For this you must transfert your brush on a plan 3D and now rotation will work perfectly :sunglasses:

Hi Washington
:large_orange_diamond:Choose an Alpha (here the Star Alpha)
:large_orange_diamond:Sub Menu Alpha /Transform in Texture
:large_orange_diamond:Sub Menu Texture / Transparent On
:large_orange_diamond:Menu Tool Choose Plan 3D
:large_orange_diamond:Menu Tool/Modifier/Sub Menu/Selection/Mask All/ Import texture by Intensity
= You have your Alpha on a plan 3D :sunglasses:
And Cameyo’s ZPlace Can play
And all rotation as you want
If you take just one orientation
you obtain the same than a rotation of an alpha in 2D and with any degre°
Hope this help!
Pilou

Alpha still won’t rotate and follow the mouse

If you can please post zscript

Nevermind

I gotta try again!!

Frenchy

Did you mean Plan 3D as Plane 3d ?

Hi Washington
Of course a plan3D is a 3D object but
as I said using with only one rotation it’s the same than an Alpha 2D
Look the little stars alone on “front on view” above
Pilou
Ps and a plan 3D can have any “altitude” just a flat form
Pss Plan3D is the primitive inside the prog in Menu Tool

With plane 3D would not be something I want. I only want to rotate the brush with alpha for cleaner and silk lines.

I wish I could post images here because it is not my computer and I do not have internet access with my Tablet PC :frowning:

Pss Plan3D is the primitive inside the prog in Menu Tool page 148 of the Manual
Pssss You right it’s planE3D
Sorry in french it’s “plan” (for one time french is smaller than english
Pilou

Hi Washington
You rotate your plane3D with the Cameyo method above !
And you MrgbzGrabbed it !!!
You have your NEW Alpha 2D rotated as a BRUSH that you want
Rustic but efficient
Pilou

I failed with Cameyo’s ZPlace

I will not deal with it anymore

Ok here is my example:

Alpha with two pins follows the mouse path drawn on the document. Blue pin is for forward and red pin is for rear to behave like a gravel rake. It is one of my wish list I posted it in other section. The pins can be re-positioned by user.

The pins might need a compression coefficient on tight turns or they might get stuck in the grooves.

[humour] A sponge stamping mechanism attached to the rake would allow you to blur or stencil stamp the lines in one swift movement. saving time.[/end]

PS. Thanks for your help Frenchy.

The reason I suggested two pins is because with current version of zBrush I am stuck with one way brush stroke. I can’t turn left/right or it will make messy. It is nothing fancy and it is a native mechanism like a true brush. You can not rotate the brush+alpha with tablet/mouse. But with this suggested mechanism you can!!

My wife is artists and she painted with oil, pastel, coal etc… With oil you would have to turn left or right with several different kinds of brush or knives to make special effects. Nothing in real world is one way direction.
