Looking for eyelets and shoe laces tutorials.

Hi,

I’ve been all over YouTube looking for a way to make real eyelets and shoe laces tutorials. I don’t want them sculpted in, they need to be on their own subtools as I want the finished shoes/boots to have all their own material zones. Anyone help with this?? Shoe prototype below…

Thanks much!

Zspheres are an old tried-and-true method for shoe / bootlaces:

Insert brushes can be used for eyelets, depending on the look.

Here’s part of a book that covers using the curve tube brush and zspheres to create laces, although the preview cuts out before the zsphere section can finish.

Thanks so much. I’ll have a look at these when I get home from work.

Very much appreciated!

Ok… I have another question. Might be stupid to some but I’ve watched more vids . Some go really fast and others just sorta skip steps. The IMM Curve insert mesh supposedly has a lace option. How does one access the sub brushes that are in that one brush? I tried using the slider but things just go by really fast and I’m not seeing the laces brush showing that way.

Thanks so much!

Watched a few tutorials. Figured out how to make my own shoe string but need a way to Constrain to make semi tight looking bends like the strings is pulled tightly if I so desire that look.

Still can’t find a tutorial on making holes. Not sure if I need to make a dense mesh to get enough poly’s to make one that looks good enough and can make rings to go into them or if there is a way to make holes with a low poly mesh.

Also once a string is made and I go back to it, if I switch brushes, I can’t get string line I’ve made active again. How do I do that?

Still need to find out how to access the insert mesh tools that have sub tools like the zipper one, it’s got a left side, a right side, an open zipper and a closed zipper. Need to figure out how to get to those “sub” tools. I’m sure it’s a keyboard short cut but I don’t know what it is.

My piddly attempt at make a shoe string (basic round, not flattened). Comes with a a rounded tip on either side…

‘m’

Ah, ‘m’ is the shortcut to bring up the other sub tools? I just shut down ZBrush for the night . I’ll check it out tomorrow.

Thanks!

Your really overly chatty ya know!
