King Midas

This piece is very early. Just wanted to upload it to get a thread started and see what people thought of the basic shapes.

Wow! I really love the way it looks, the armor is so smooth, I love the layers on the arms and the structure on the chest area. I think the crown needs a little work though, the angles on the 3/4 view just dont seem to work right. Other then the crown its awesome, love the character too, very interesting! Keep us posted on how its comin along. :+1:

Nice start, i especially like the profile, as for crits, the armour seems too thick, the crown needs work, as a temporary placeholder it’s ok though, also the detail around the mouth could be removed, since you’re not at that stage yet, you could play some more with the basic shapes and direction before commiting to high res details, otherwise not much to crit, looking forward to any updates.

I think you’re onto something, I love the shapes of his face!

Im not so sure about the shoulder guard and the crown, but I’ll reserve my judgement until you’ve refined the crown some more. :slight_smile:

Anyway, great work! I’ll keep my eyes peeled on this one.

You are really going somewhere special with that piece, I really like it the face details are great ,and I guess the crown and the rest of the pieces are just sketches for now .So I m sure this is going to be mind blowing when its finished keep it up:D

Here’s some more detailing to the armour. I wanted to play with the mesh extraction. I plan on pulling a ton of this stuff out. Does anybody have any tips on how to pull out smoother pieces from the existing geometry? Sometimes the extraction is really smooth and othertimes it’s a broken mess. Why is this?

Looks pretty cool this cahracter. In that case I think that the skin material make it better that the gryone(only my opinion).
