few more updates

Nice anatomical details. Cool model. I was wondering if his ‘toes’ should be a bit more substantial to bear his weight?

yeah moochie the only reason I kept them the way they are is because I wanted to make him look more aquatic. Ill probably build them out a little bit more. The animation my friend wants to do with him is to have him swimming to surface and then sort of jumping out of the water onto a boat kind like in water world.

a little more work on the anatomy what do you think of the toes now is it more believable.

A little face detail update

Ok I decided that i needed to redo his hands then i got it back into zbursh and started having all sorts of wierd sim errors so this is the 3rd time Ive had to resculpt this.
I welcome your comments and critiques
hopefully this looks better.

Another Update for yall did a bit more work in zbrush and I did some photoshop work to see how i want the texture to look when im done.
any input or suggestions on the texture would be nice.

Here is the back.

Looking good! As far as the texture is concerned, it’s not very sympathetic to the underlying excellent modeling, as you’re losing a lot of the sculpted detail under a mass of dark grey/green. Maybe consider a lighter texture with more shading at muscle margins? And those spines and horns would ‘pop’ more if they were differentiated more from the skin tex. imho. :+1:

Yeah, I agree, I liked the untextured model more for all it’s detail. Awesome model, lovely expression, a creature I would like to know better. (to some degree ;)). :+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:

Thanks for your kind words I agree the photoshop I made did take away alot of detail ill keep it in mind while im in PM. about the spikes the two on his legs are supposed to be fins and the ones on his arms and head are tentacles. Kalmar means Squid in deutsch just incase that was confusing.

here is a little update on the torso
more updates soon I’ll try to have him finished detailed and textured by sunday night or monday morning.

Ah, Kalmar, like in Kalamari, which mean a sort of squid too I think. Nice shading in that last image by the way.

Hey Evan,
Great Job! Your anatomy is really starting to come along.
Keep it up man

Sorry for the Delay Ive been struggling with the texture Don’t do texturing often enough.

plakkie: mmmh Fried Kalamari sounds good right now

Sparty: Thanks man Its a learning curve but I enjoy studying anatomy. You gonna be coming to SIG06 in Boston? I’ll finally be 21 for this siggraph  .

Here are some updates

Hey! That texture looks MUCH better now Evan, great job! :+1: :+1:
I have never eaten squid, but you make me almost want to try it.
Wish Siggraph would be held near my country for once, than I would certainly go! :frowning:
