Italian mac tilde key?

thanks in advance

Same problem.

I have submitted a ticket, I hope the problem can be solved…

I can’t tell you what the correct key is. I can, however, tell you how to find it.

Open the Preferences>Utilities menu in ZBrush. You’ll see a series of sliders. The second one from the top displays the ASCII values of your key presses. This is the value that ZBrush uses to determine what you want to do.

The value for the tilde key is 126. So what you’ll need to do is press keys one at a time on your keyboard while watching that slider. When you see the value change to 126 you’ll know you found the right key.

thanks, this is the same reply I just had from the TS… however it is not easy to achieve… by the moment I didn’t find out…

I can make a tilde with my keyboard by pressing alt 5 (~) but it doesn’t produce a 126 code and it doesn’t work
Actually I cannot work with ZBrush on my Italian Mac with my Italian keyboard

No way to make the tilde…

Apple should fix this because it depends on Apple, which has surely a problem with the keyboard layout at least for the Italian version as it doesn’t make the tilde with the US layout either…

Hi! I’m on a Mac with a swedish keyboard and I also had problems with this. I found the tilde using Cmd+< (next to the left Shift-key).

Check this thread: http://www.zbrushcentral.com/showthread.php?t=91307

Hope it helps!

Hi tennet.

Unfortunately the tilde made with the combination of keys doesn’t produce the effect to move the 2.5 image in the canvas.

I have read your link and it seems that you are luckier than us as you can use the American keyboard layout and produce the tilde. In the Italian keyboard it is impossible to make the tilde even though you press the corresponding key of the american keyboard (the one to the left of the number 1).
There are three slide bars for the transposition (along the X, Y and Z axes), but it is not as comfortable as dragging the mouse.

I am not using the american keyboard, I’m still using the swedish one. Try the advice that Marcus Civis gave in the previous thread; “rename a sub-tool with all different key combinations until you find the tilde symbol”. That is how I found the tilde and got it working on the swedish keyboard.

The Italian mac keyboard doesn’t produce any 126 code with any combination. There’s not way to make it happen.
Sometimes it produces the 126 code after a specific sequence of key strokes and combinations… for instance:

Option ', option ì, option +, option è

When you hit option è it produces 126.
If you just press option è it produces another code.

It is something that I’ve been discussing with the tech support.

If there is a way to customize the keyboard with the transpose function it would be the solution.
