I have a problem during installation.
I cant install microsoft Visual C++ 2005 redistributable
it gives me this eror:

“command line option syntax error. Type Command /? for Help”

and then after I finished the installation I cant run Zbrush.
it gives me this error:

“The application has failed to start because its side-byside configuration is incorrect. Please see the application event log for more detail.”

I have tried to find some solutions and I tried all of them. it said this problem is due to Microsoft Orcas, but I could not find Microsoft Orcas on my computer.

does any body has ever experienced the same problem?
please tell me how can I solve this problem?

Have you tried running the vcredist_86.exe file yourself ? It can be found in the ZBrush3/TroubleShootHelp folder.

If you have then make sure you have the latest Windows Installer installed and try again.

If you still cannot run the vcredist_86.exe file make sure you have the latest service pack for Windows and redownload vcredist_86.exe

I am sorry, I forgot to mention that I am using Vista Ultimate 64 bit, I cant install the Windows Installer 3.1 x86 and I couldnt find the x64 version.

I tried to download the visual C++ 2005 x64 version, but I still got the same problem.

That is strange, I am also using Vista Ultimate 64 bit and had no problems installing.

I am not yet into all the ins and outs of Vista but you might want to try running the vcredist_x86.exe as administrator. Right click the file and select Run as Administrator. The ZBrush 3 executable may also need to be set to run as administrator permanently. Do that by right clicking the Zbrush3.exe file and selecting properties. From there you can set the option once and for all.

If that does ont help you should contact Pixologic support.

do i need to change the windows XP compability mode in the properties?

thank you! I fixed this by creating new account on my vista and install zbrush in that account…
i dont know whats wrong with my first account
