I can't draw on model

I’m new to zbrush so I apologize if this is a simple question but I’ve been stuck trying to figure out how to draw on my model for over a hour.

I loaded up the save file of my model. Cleared the canvas and redrew my model and went back into edit mode. But now when I try to draw on the model with a sculpting brush in edit and draw mode all it does is rotate the model and that is it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks!

Hello @Will4671

Is it possible you’re trying to sculpt on one of the Parametric Primitives (the cubes and spheres you see by default in the tool menu)?

Those aren’t really meshes, but rather the blueprint for a mesh, which you create an instance of when you use the “Make Polymesh 3d” button in the Tool Palette. Your instance will be created from the basic primitive with a name like “PM3D-Sphere 3d” and appear in the tool menu with that name. You can then sculpt on it.

If you reloaded the file and select the original “Sphere 3d” primitive rather than the actual tool you created, you wont be able to sculpt on it until you convert it into a polymesh 3d tool, or select your previous tool.

Hi @Will4671

It will do that if your Z Intensity slider was not at 100 when you turned Edit on. Turn Edit off which will put you in 2.5D mode. Clear the canvas (Ctrl N), Set Z Intensity to 100 and redraw the mesh.

Thanks for the quick reply!

I don’t believe that is what is going on unfortunately. I’m trying to draw on a adaptive skin I’ve made of my mesh though all it’s allowing me to do is rotate it here’s a picture of what I’m looking at.

Thank you so much that fixed it!
