How to unwrap UVs with UV Master form Dynamesh with HiRes ?

I have a problem with unwrapping UVs. I have a subtool which is Dynamesh (Resolution 512) with details. I have no subdivides to use effectively with UV Master, because Zbrush thinks very long and there is no finish of it - then I should kill process through Task manager.

For experiment (if my subtool have no bit details):
f I Work on clone of Dynamesh with 512 res. and then reduce resolution to 128 - o.k. it is fine unwrap UVs, but copying of UVs from “low”-poly model did not past to original

Please, tell how could I resolve this problem.

P.S. I tried to export subtool in 3D max, but the unwrapping system of it is too compex for me

Why are they not passing on the high rez ? What error does it give ?
Maybe try to turn OFF dynamesh button when pasting it back to the high rez.

Other thing you can do is to make retopo, or decimated a clone subtool of your high poly mesh, then unrwap it and bake maps with details in external program. Xnormal or Max or whatever you want.

The question is what is your final goal ?

Append the low res mesh you have created to the high res version. Subdivide the low res mesh until it has about the same number of polys as the high res, then use the Tool>SubTool>Project All button to project the high res details. You’ll then be able to create the maps you require.

Thank you all for answers

No message, no errors… Just past - and nothing

I tried it. Did not help.

Yes, I thought about retopology… but this is alternative and I would like to resolve problem by Zbrush UV Master.

The final is to render for just illustration.

O.k. I did it, but, unfortunately, it doesn’t work :frowning:

In the first scrnshot: on the left copy of subtool - is a low-poly mesh.
In the right scrnshot: after Project all there is no effect to the HiRez subtool.

Okey, I tried to work with test model:

  1. Create 3D sphere -> Mesh -> Dynamesh (res 512).
  2. Create superhi quality details (DragRect alpha).
  3. Copy this tool and reduce Dynamesh Res to 128.
  4. Unwrap Lowres tool - O.K.

5.1. Try to Project All - did not work.
5.2. Try to CopyPaste UVs from Law to Hires tool - nothing happened.
5.2. Devide LawRes tool to the level as original (~700k polies). Try to CopyPaste UVs from “Law” to Hires tool: Some error appeared:

Incompatible UVs: cannot paste the buffered UVs into this tool.

In your picture you have the high res subtool selected. For the projection to work you must have the low res version with UVs selected. Both subtools must be visible and at their highest subdivision level.

You can only copy and paste UVs between models with identical topology. Dynamesh used in repeated operations will not produce models with the same topology.

Thanks, marcus.

I try to choose as hi as low tool to project. And one more - Zbrush projects from Hirez to Lawres and no versa, isn’t it ?
Why it should project UVs from law to hi ?

I think of it more as projecting surface detail and polypaint from whatever it sees (the source) onto whatever subtool is currently selected (the target).

You don’t want to make any changes to the original higher-res mesh (dyna512), and you shouldn’t expect to see any changes to it as a result of the Projection.

I think you’re currently expecting to make UVs on a lower res model and then transfer them to the original model? If so, don’t.
What you are actually meant to do, according to the workflow you’re being told to follow, is to create a brand new mesh that will have different topology, all of the same detail, and it’s own set of UVs. This new mesh (dyna128) is meant to completely replace the old (dyna512). Once you have the sculptural detail and polypaint projected onto the new mesh, there will be no reason to even keep the old mesh around.

Try these modified steps to your test:

1. Create 3D sphere -> Mesh -> Dynamesh (res 512).
2. Create superhi quality details (DragRect alpha).
3. Copy this tool and reduce Dynamesh Res to 128.
4. Unwrap Lowres tool - O.K.

5. Subdivide Lowres tool two or three times.
6. With the Lowres tool still selected, hit Project All.

For your information, UVMaster isn’t design to unwrap models with more than 100~150 000 polygons as mentioned in its documentation. The computing is somehow exponentional, then with too much polygons, you will have to wait for a very long time, especially when you have handles and holes.

The only solution is to reduce your polygon count and doing a reproject as mentioned by the others members.

Okey, guies, Thank you very much for attention.
I try to use your advices
