How to UN-install MSN messenger and other hidden Microsoft components

Hi all!

Today is a good day! I Finlay found a way to get rid of MSN messenger!!! http://www.tacktech.com/display.cfm?ttid=288

your Outlook express will open almost instantly, because you are only logging onto your Email server, not MSN and then your E-mail server  .

I don’t use messenger services because of security risks. when I was with a mod team a year or so ago, one of the programmers found a way to hack MSN and ICQ (from some message board), thus as a prank he kept logging on to my system, and pester me. opening and closing windows, adding keystrokes while I was trying to type, downloading pornography and changing my desktop wallpaper , Etc…

ever science then I don’t use MSN messenger…even behind the micosoft firewall he was able to screw with me… so I just never use it after re-formating my system…

now I am totally rid of it… and Microsoft dosent get a notification every time I try looking at my E-mail

you can use this tutorial to delete other Microsoft nonsense

I haven’t checked the link, but if it is the same as the method I saw in a magazine, it works only if you haven’t updated MSN with a certain update. This update (which comes with service pack 1) makes it so you can’t uninstall MSN at all.

The best thing is not to install it in the first place; I hate MSN so much

the above is a utility just for removeing MSN messenger spacificaly after installing SP1

Hope it works for you… My friend swears by it

Are you talking about MSN Messenger or Windows Messenger? That last link looks like it’s talking about Windows Messenger which is different than MSN Messenger.

they are the same thing, just a different installer.

it slows down outlook really bad… logs you on to a messaging network so you can retrieve E-mail… it is really absurd

On behalf of the new computer and myself, we thank you again.
Link still works
