How to poke or cut holes in mesh?

Hi guys I’m watching a guy work on a project where he sculpts a horned zombie type creature that has holes in its cheeks. It looks like he masks off a piece and then ‘cuts’ it out but I’m not sure how.

To see what I am referring to go to 1:50 of this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BeQVy14ENII

I would love to know how to do this. Thanks guys!

He inserted a insertmesh while holding alt to tell zbrush that he wants to subtract by that insertion then re-dynameshed. another way to do it would be to change the boolean in the subtool pallet to the second option and merge down onto the part that will subtracted.

you could also you zremesher to bridge two holes.

I think that you can do it.
