How to change the quicksave directory location?

I need to move the default Zbrush quicksave/autosave directory to a different physical drive. I was able to do this with the scratch disk location by editing a simple text file, but there doesn’t seem to be any equally simple way to to perform this equally simple task with the quicksave directory.

Any tips?

You can’t move it. It is automatically located in the Public Documents folder. If you’re trying to avoid rewrites to an SSD then it would be straightforward to code a simple plugin to do incremental saves but you would have to press a button to save, autosaving would not be possible.

Bummer. I found some info on the web suggesting you could do it by creating a directory junction in Windows, but any time people start talking about command line level stuff, my eyes start to glaze over. Was hoping there was a more straightforward fix. Looks like I’ll be disabling quick/autosave altogether. Pity.

Thanks for the reply, Marcus!

The quicksave feature in ZBrush is fantastic, however the files are large and it saves a lot of them so you can quickly run out of space on your system drive- especially when every single program seems to automatically create folders there. You shouldn’t have to mess about with DOS commands just to specify a different save folder, that is just outrageous. It should be right there in preferences or under the quicksave tab.
